Ashville- Biltmore Estate

WOW !!!

Billy and I stayed for a few days in the South End district of Charlotte. We stayed at a Hanover project called Ashton South End, which was a welcome change to hotels.

The first day in town we went to Ashville to visit the Biltmore Estate and tour the town. Billy had been before with his dad but even this visit he was just as amazed as the first. Going during winter saved us money, time, and aggravation of not having to deal with thousands of people, but the plants were not in bloom so the grounds weren't as incredible as they would have been in summer. Since it was winter lines were short and we never felt like a moving sardine can.

After touring the house, where photos weren't allowed, we toured the greenhouse and walked around the winter gardens.

Biltmore Fun Facts:
1. 250 Rooms including 43 Bathrooms, 34 Bedrooms
2. 6 years to build
3. 33,000 sq. feet of living space
4. Large indoor swimming pool, elevators, and intercom system

As a side note the city of Ashville was more than either of us expected. It had a great walkable downtown with art galleries, eclectic restaurants, organic food, and the largest art communities I have ever visited.
